Books

Visual AIDS utilizes art to fight AIDS by provoking dialogue, supporting HIV+ artists, and preserving a legacy, because AIDS is not over. Our publications support, promote, and honor the work of artists with HIV/AIDS and the cultural contributions of the AIDS movement.

DUETS is a series of publications that pairs artists, activists, writers, and thinkers in dialogues about their creative practices and current social issues related to HIV/AIDS. These engaging and highly readable conversations highlight the connections between communities of artists and activists. Drawing from the Visual AIDS Artist Registry and Archive Project, this series continues Visual AIDS’ mission to support, promote, and honor the work of artists with HIV/AIDS and the artistic contributions of the AIDS movement.

Monographs highlight the work of artists who died of AIDS-related complications before their work received the recognition it deserved. Our monographs are typically the first substantial publication of an artist's work, creating a foundation for future scholarship.

Exhibition Catalogs: As a way of continuing and building upon our exhibitions, Visual AIDS produces catalogs for many of its shows. Catalogs are available through Visual AIDS while supplies last, and many catalogs can also be downloaded as a pdf. For a complete list of past catalogs, see here.
